    İnci Kansu

    (Paper Art, Collage)

Following her return to the island, Kansu worked as an art teacher for many years. The artist has oil paintings including her still-life themed work from the early years of her career which is in the collection. Apart from the oil paintings, Kansu finds herself showing interest in paper art as a result of her pursuit to find new techniques and materials. The artist initially starts to stick the crinkled paper onto canvases, then forms her unique style by discovering all aspects of the paper. Aside from transforming paper which rather easily takes shape into a work of art, Kansu learns how to make paper from scratch and then teaches other people how to do it. Kansu is one of the founding members of the Association of Cyprus Paper Artists and, spreads paper art among society. Blending the paper with different materials such as metals, wires, and paint, İnci Kansu also creates different shapes by using techniques like relief, cutting and collage. The artist's works titled From the Nature and Tulipa Cypria are in the collection and refer to the nature and traditions of Cyprus. Moreover, Kansu also touches on more political issues in her art practices such as problems of women.
